History

In 1977, Doug Schmitt decided to leave the Creative Department of GAF Corporation (the View-Master 3-D toy people) and do something really creative - start a small remodeling business out of the basement of his home.

From that humble beginning, the company has evolved from kitchen accessory making, to small residential remodeling, to cabinet shop and finally into a consortium of high-quality craftsmen, teaming together to produce furniture, cabinetry and millwork. With the ability to pull together the resources and skills of extremely talented people, we have been able to accomplish projects demanding the highest quality with on-time delivery and market-competitive pricing.

We work with professional interior designers, architects and general contractors who in turn are seeking the professional craftsmen who can fulfill their clients' expectations for beautiful and functional offices and homes. We also work directly with business owners and homeowners who have ideas of what they want but need design help in selecting materials, determining sizes and finding solutions to practical problems of space and utility.

Most recently, we have added glass surfaces to our list of interior specialties. Due to a high demand for protective glass surfaces and a steady need for glass related to furniture and cabinetry, this adjunct to the business gives us even more ability to meet the needs of our clients.

Philosophy

Our purpose is to give our clients the highest quality solutions to their cabinet, furniture and glass needs at the most reasonable cost possible.

Because we are custom fabricators, it is rare that any two pieces produced are alike (unless it is intentional, of course). We do not mass-produce our pieces but we do compete in the marketplace and have done so successfully for over 30 years. Surprisingly, we are often more cost effective than buying from a catalog with the added benefit of being able to get exactly what the consumer wants.

Unlike buying from a far-away factory, however, our clients have the guarantee that all of our work is backed by local service and immediate attention - virtually for the life of the product. It is not unusual for us to work on or modify pieces of furniture that were built by us over 20 years ago, still being used daily in the corporate setting.

Lastly, but not least important, we believe that our integrity is the overriding factor in our success. When we bid a job - it is firm. When we commit to a schedule - you can count on it. And if through some Act of God we cannot meet our obligation, we will talk it out and negotiate a mutually acceptable solution because our reputation relies on it.

In short, if we cannot treat our clients ethically, we have no business being in business.
